Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Matte Black Colour Variant to Go on Sale in India Today - NDTV

Xiaomi last week had revealed the Matte Black colour variant of the popular Redmi Note 4 smartphone will go on sale in India on Wednesday, March 1. The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 colour variant will be available to buy via Flipkart and Mi.com from 12pm IST.

So far, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review) has been available to purchase in Gold, Grey, and Silver colour variants in India. To recall, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 4 in India back in January, and the smartphone went up on its first sale a few days later. While the smartphone was unveiled in three RAM/ storage combinations in India, the 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage model only went on sale in February.

As we mentioned, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has been launched in three variants in India - the 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage model has been priced at Rs. 9,999, the 3GB RAM/ 32 GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 10,999, while the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 12,999.

The company claimed that the handset's first sale saw tremendous response from the Indian market as it managed to sell 250,000 units of the Redmi Note 4 in 10 minutes. The company at that time said that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 saw over 3 times and 5 times quantity sold in its first sale compared to the Redmi 3S and Redmi Note 3, respectively.

Some of the highlights of the Redmi Note 4 are a metal unibody, processor performance, and improved camera compared to the Redmi Note 3. To refresh on the specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 has a 5.5-inch full-HD display, and is powered by the Snapdr agon 625 SoC. At the rear, there is a 13-megapixel camera sensor with dual-LED flash and a fingerprint sensor. In the front, the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel sensor. It sports a large 4100mAh battery, supports VoLTE, and runs on MIUI 8 based Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Moto G5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 - NDTV

Lenovo brand Moto on Sunday at MWC 2017 launched the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus smartphone. While the Moto G5 runs on a Snapdragon 430 SoC, the Moto G5 Plus runs on a Snapdragon 625 SoC. We decided to take compare the Moto G5 Plus with another popular phone running the same SoC – the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

While the basis of the comparison of the Moto G5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is the common denominator of the Snapdragon 625 SoC, there are several differences between the two smartphones, as will be clear as we proceed with the comparison.

Moto G5 Plus vs Redmi Note 4: Specifications compared
However, let us begin with the commonalities. Both the Moto G5 Plus and Redmi Note 4 sport full-HD displays, however, of different sizes. Both smartphones come in dual-SIM variants, both support storage expandability via microSD card (up to 128GB). Both smartphones feature 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage variants as their base models, as well as 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage and 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variants. Both feature expandable storage support via microSD card (up to 128GB).

Motorola Moto G5 Plus vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

As for the differences, the Moto G5 Plus runs Android 7.0 Nougat, compared to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based MIUI 8 that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 runs. It sports a smaller display at 5.2 inches, compared to the Redmi phone's 5.5-inch display.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

The Moto G5 Plus comes with a 12-megapixel rear camera with dual autofocus, 4K video recording, an f/1.7 aperture, and dual-LED flash, while the Redmi Note 4 comes with a 13-megapixel camera with PDAF, full-HD video recording, an f/2.0 aperture, and dual-LED flash. They both have 5-megapixel front cameras.

One of the biggest differences is in the battery segment. The Moto G5 Plus has a much smaller 3000mAh battery, while the Redmi Note 4 has a 4100mAh battery. This probably contributes significantly to the weight as well, with the G5 Plus weighing in at 155 grams, and the Redmi Note 4 at 175 grams. The G5 Plus is 9.7mm-thick, while the Redmi Note 4 is 8.3mm thick.

Moto G5 Plus vs Redmi Note 4: Prices compared
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is available in three variants in India - the 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage model is priced at Rs. 9,999, the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model is priced at Rs. 10,999, and 4 GB RAM/ 64GB storage model is priced at Rs. 12,999.

As for the Moto G5 Plus, we only know prices – that too European and US pricing – for two variants. The 2GB RAM/ 32GB storage model is priced at $229 (roughly Rs. 15,300), while the 3GB RAM/ 32GB variant is priced at EUR 279 (roughly Rs. 19,700). The price of the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant is not known.

OnePlus 5 leaked specs show dual edge display and 23 megapixel camera

The OnePlus 5 is said to be featuring a 4000mAh battery with Dash Charge fast charging support.

Earlier we reported that OnePlus might skip the number 4 for its next flaghsip and instead come with OnePlus 5 straight away. Now, as per the latest report by Korean Daily, the upcoming flagship from the Chinese handset manufacturer has started doing the leak rounds. To explain, Number 4 is considered as an unlucky number as it resembles the symbol of death.

As per Koreanportal.com, the OnePlus 5 will be featuring a dual edged display just like the Galaxy S7 Edge. The smartphone will flaunt a 23-megapixel rear camera and 16-megapixel front camera for selfies, the same one that is present on OnePlus 3. It will come with 6GB or 8GB of RAM, 64 GB or 128GB of internal storage and 256GB of expandable memory via micro sd card slot. The smartphone is said to feature a ceramic body like the Xiaomi Mi Mix which is inline with earlier reports that the company is plan ning to replace the aluminium body of the phone with a ceramic one. OnePlus 5 is tipped to come with ceramic bodyshell made by the same firm which created the Xiaomi Mi Mix's ceramic exterior.

The OnePlus 5 is said to house a 4000mAh battery with Dash Charge fast charging support. It will come with a Type-C USB port and with wireless charging. Since it is highly likely that Samsung's this year's flagship device, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will include Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, one could also expect that OnePlus might use a Snapdragon 830 chipset instead, as Samsung is said to have hoarded the initial production of the 835 SoC. OnePlus 5 is said to be running on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out of the box, and OnePlus OxygenOS UI on top of it.

As per rumors, OnePlus 5 is likely to be announced at the end of Q2 2017. We advise our readers to take these specs with a pinch of salt as none of these has been officially confirmed by OnePlus. Stay tuned at The Mobile Indian network for more updates on this.

Samsung launches two new tablets - Times of India

Barcelona: Samsung Electronics on Sunday launched two new tablets as it tries to shrug off the woes that gripped the company in the wake of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone recall last year.

The Korean major unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and the Samsung Galaxy Book and said it would have a smartphone related event on March 29. It did not disclose whether it would be the Galaxy S8 which it did not launch at the Mobile World Congress underway in this Spanish city.

The Korean electronics giant is also betting big on 5G to drive its next phase of growth and detailed some of the future plans at the Mobile World Congress, the annual gathering of the mobile industry. The Galaxy S8 is seen as a crucial device from the company, which is emerging from the bruising impact of the Galaxy Note 7 recall after its batteries turned out to be fire risks.

"The past six months have undoubtedly been one of the most challenging periods in our history. We did not meet the high standards of quality and excellence we set for ourselves and the consumers have come to expect from us," said David Lowes, Senior vice president and CMO of Samsung Electronics Europe

"We are determined to learn every possible lesson and we recognise that regaining consumer trust can only be earned by actions, not words. Following internal and third-party investigations, we have implemented a broad range of processes to further enhance product safety," he said.

Tim Baxter, president and COO, Samsung Electronics America said the company invested heavily in 5G because it believes in its promise. He said 5G will be ultra-fast, gigabyte speeds, will enable 4K movies downloaded in seconds, in car infotainment, multiple camera angles of your favourite sports events, lag free gaming, self -driving cars.

"You can expect the first commercial network deployment early next year. In fact, we have already set up regional trials with three commercial versions of the products announced today in markets such as the US, Korea and Japan. A few days ago, we announced an upcoming trial in UK," said Baxter.

The two tablets launched on Sunday have a 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and a 5-megapixel front camera. Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has a 9.7-inch display while the Samsung Galaxy Book will be available in two sizes: 10.6-inch and 12-inch displays.

The tablets also include expandable storage, and fast-charge capabilities. Both devices also support Pogo keyboards with no separate charging or pairing required. Tab S3 is the first Samsung tablet to feature quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN. The Galaxy Book is a Windows 10 device, while the Galaxy S3 runs on Android 7.0 (Nougat).

MWC 2017: Find out how Moto G5, LG G6, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and Nokia 5 competes with their rivals - Gizbot

LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium VS HTC U Ultra

Looking at the specifications of the LG G6 and Sony Xperia XZ Premium, we can say that the handsets will compete with the recently launched HTC U Ultra smartphone that features a 5.7-inch Sapphire glass display at both front and back along with a liquid surface, which gives a 3D effect to the handset. HTC U Ultra also sports a secondary 2-inch display, which is mainly dedicated to the new HTC AI assistant. HTC AI is the HTC Sense Companion that pretty much operates and functions like Apple's Siri and Google Assistant.

HTC U Ultra is powered by the same quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset that powers up the LG G6. The CPU is coupled with 4GB of RAM. The U Ultra has been launched in India in 64GB inb uilt storage variant that is expandable by up to 2TB via microSD card.

For photography, the smartphone has a 12-UltraPixel rear camera with 1.55-micron pixels. The camera setup has a BSI sensor that supports laser + phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilization, and is accompanied by a dual-tone LED flash. HTC U Ultra sports a 16MP front camera with an UltraPixel mode.

LG G6, Sony Xperia XZ Premium and the HTC U Ultra offers fingerprint sensors and support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS and all other required connectivity features.
For audio, HTC U Ultra comes with HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio support, as well as 3D Audio recording support with 4 microphones. LG G6 features a high-performance Quad DAC and Sony Xperia XZ Premium comes with Hi-Res audio supported by Digital Sound Enhancement Engine, Digital Noise Cancelling (DNC) technology and S-Force Front Surround audio technology.

HTC U Ultra is powered by a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0, compared to LG G6's 3,300mAh battery unit and Sony Xperia XZ Premium's 3,230mAh battery package.

Verdict

So now you have a better idea of how the latest generation of LG, Sony and Motorola handsets compare with their rivals as far as specification are concerned. We will compare their real-life performance to give a final verdict once these handsets make it to the Indian soil.

Sony Xperia XZ Premium vs XZs: What's the difference

Sony just unveiled its brand new handsets, among which were the Xperia XZ Premium and Xperia XZs. While both of them look like pretty solid devices, there are some key differences between the two that could impact your buying decision if you're planning to go for a Sony handset. So, let us start with the obvious one – screen size. The display on the XZ Premium measures at 5.5 inches, effectively pushing it into phablet territory. So, if you're not too keen on having that large of a screen, the XZs would probably suit you better, as its display has a 5.2-inch diagonal. However, you will be sacrificing quality too, as the XZ Premium's main benefit in the display department is the 4K resolution, which should provide a sharper image than the 1080 x 1920 Full HD one that the XZs employs.

The rest of the differences are not that obvious and we need to dig into the specs sheet to find them. The big news here is the difference i n chipsets. The XZ Premium comes with the latest and greatest Qualcomm silicon – Snapdragon 835, and an Adreno 540 graphical processor. In the meantime, the XZs stuck with the Snapdragon 820 we saw in last year's Sony flagship.

We're surprised to find out that when it comes to the cameras, the two phones are exactly the same. Both handsets are getting Sony's new 19 MP camera sensor which can shoot 960 fps videos. This means that we can enjoy the super slow-motion output sooner than expected.

What didn't surprise us, though, is the bigger battery capacity of the XZ Premium. The higher-resolution display probably needs more power, and we don't know whether the Snapdragon 835 puts more strain on the battery or not. So it only makes sense for the bigger device to come with 3,230 mAh power pack, as opposed to the 2,900 mAh of the XZs. It's important to note that the beefier battery doesn't mean more battery life, so we'll have to test the devices before we can judge ho w the bigger power pack performs.

In the memory department, both devices come with 4 GB of RAM. The XZs has two variations – one with 32 GB of internal memory, and one with 64 GB, while the XZ Premium has a single version with 64 GB of internal memory. Good news is that both phones support MicroSD cards of up to 256 GB.

In terms of connectivity, the XZ Premium definitely outpowers the XZs, as the phablet comes with LTE Category 16 modem. This means that it could reach up to 1 Gbps download speed, at least on paper. In reality, it's a bit more complicated and it's highly unlikely for the average user to see such speeds.

On paper, both devices look pretty solid. And while the XZ Premium is obviously the superior phone, when it comes to specs, in case you don't want to deal with the 5.5-inch display, you will have to sacrifice some performance and go for the XZs.

Which one of the two would you prefer? Do let us know in the comments below the post.

Samsung Electronics Sets March 29 For Galaxy S8 Launch - NDTV

Barcelona, Spain: Samsung Electronics said on Sunday it would launch its next key device in the aftermath of a burning-battery scandal, the Galaxy S8, on March 29.

At the end of a product presentation at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company showed a short video clip announcing the date for its traditional "Unpacked Event".

In past years, the trade fair was the scene of major Samsung launches. This year, Samsung postponed the presentation of its next major handset.

The company withdrew the Galaxy Note 7 last October due to faulty batteries, which led some devices to catch fire.

That caused a loss of consumer trust, wiping out $5.3 billion of operating profit, and allowing Apple's iPhone to overtake it in sales.

Rumors suggest that OnePlus 5 may have dual-edge display & powerful rear camera - PhoneRadar

Now that we are done with most of the huge smartphone announcements from MWC 2017, it is time to focus on some of the others happening around in the world of mobile technology. While we were busy with the MWC 2017 announcements, a couple of interesting rumors have come out which suggests a major upgrade to the upcoming flagship from OnePlus. According to the new reports which we have, OnePlus 5 (not sure what happened to four) is going to be significantly different from the what we saw with the previous offerings from OnePlus.

The next smartphone from OnePlus dubbed as "OnePlus 5" is expected to sport some significant cosmetic changes. Rumors suggest that the OnePlus Five will have a dual-edge display. Due to this, we might be seeing something very similar to what we have on the Galaxy S7 Edge, and mostly the upcoming flagship from OnePlus will look more or less similar to the s7 Edge. But there is no doubt that the OnePlus Five will be power packed just like every other OnePlus smartphone we got till now. But there are certain things to look out for.

What one of the first things which we need see is if the company will put in the Snapdragon 835 inside or go with the same old Snapdragon 821. LG had to sacrifice on the 835 since Samsung is not letting anyone use it unless they have enough to power their smartphones. Hence, the only option that OnePlus has here is to either wait for them to become available or simply skip it and go for the 821 instead. But if the company is deciding to wait (which they should), we won't be seeing the smartphone for quite some time from now.

Other rumors point to a ceramic body which is something we have seen the Xiaomi Mi Mix smartphone. As far as the camera is concerned, it is expected that we will see a 23MP shooter at the back and a 16MP shooter on the front for the selfies. This is the first time that we are going to see such a high megapixel count on a camera from OnePlus & we expect it to be great. A 4,000 mAh battery is said to power the smartphone, and of course, we expect the same Dash Charge technology for charging. RAM is expected to be on the higher side since we already have 6GB and we won't be surprised if we see 8GB or maybe the same 6GB.

Overall, if this is what the OnePlus 5 is going to be like, then we think it will be a promising smartphone. However, we are talking about a premium quality smartphone here, and hence the price is also expected to go up. This is something that we have been seeing from OnePlus. They started with 20,000 INR for a smartphone, and now it is close to 30,000 INR. But you never know, it maybe well under 30,000 INR again as well. But it is safe to start saving some bills for the OnePlus Five if it is going to be this huge. With that said, let us know what do you think about this and would you be interested in purchasing one if it retails for a higher price.

Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra specs comparison: let's see how much punch do Sony's new budget-friendly phones pack

Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016) vs LG V20

Big phones fight it out in a specs showdownIn its presentation, Sony didn't reveal an exact release date or price for the XA1 Ultra, but said that we can expect the handset sometime this summer. Despite that, if we take the $299.99 price from the smaller XA1 variant and add $100 to $150, we can make a fairly accurate estimation that the device will probably cost around $400 to $450. At this range, its leading mainstream big-screen adversaries seem to be the Samsung Galaxy A9 and LG's high-end V20 model. This might ...

Oppo 5x Dual Camera Zoom System Unveiled at MWC 2017 - NDTV

Oppo, as promised, has announced its all-new 5x Smartphone Photography Technology dubbed 5x Dual Camera Zoom system, which will debut on the company's phones later this year. Similar to last year, Oppo took the stage in Barcelona to reveal a new technology, and not a new hardware device. To recall, the Chinese company last year unveiled its Super VOOC Flash Charge battery technology

Oppo's new 5x Dual Camera Zoom system sports a periscope-style setup, and is claimed to kill the need of camera bump at the back with its sleek 5.7mm thickness. Unfortunately, the company has not announced when the new camera tech can be expected to debut on its ph ones. It's however highly possible that Oppo uses the new 5x Dual Camera Zoom system on its flagship smartphone.

The company at its Monday keynote revealed that the new optical zoom smartphone technology was developed by the company's engineers, and it took over a year. The 5x Dual Camera Zoom system packs more than 50 parts which have been stacked in a 5.7mm module. Oppo's 5x Dual Camera Zoom system diverts light through a prism into a stabilised telephoto lens set at a 90-degree angle. The company claims that the result is lossless 5x zoom, and it utilises Oppo's "proprietary image fusion technology for digital zoom."

"We are definitely putting a stake in the ground in terms of technological breakthroughs for mobile photography. The dual cameras with wide-angled and telephoto lens, together with the periscope-style construction, our image fusion technology and the Optical Image Stabilization, edges mobile photogra phy even closer to what digital cameras are capable of doing. Our 5x Dual-Camera Zoom will again set yet another technological standard that others will emulate," said Sky Li, VP, Oppo, MD of International Mobile Business & President of Oppo India.

Oppo at its keynote also confirmed that the 5x Dual Camera Zoom technology was developed in collaboration with an Israeli startup named Corephotonics. The company that specialises in making dual camera setups for smartphones earlier this year managed to raise a whopping $15 million in a funding round. The biggest investors in the company included names like Foxconn, Samsung, and MediaTek. Oppo confirmed to CNET that it licensed the original patent from Corephotonics, an d has since applied for 50 new patents.

Moto G5 vs Nokia 5 vs Redmi 3S Prime - NDTV

Motorola and Nokia both launched affordable smartphones in Barcelona - the Moto G5 and Nokia 5, respectively. They have one significant common denominator - the use of the Snapdragon 430 SoC. The new Moto and Nokia smartphones also come with decent specifications and fall in the affordable category, inevitably becoming competition for each other. Both the companies will also compete with several other smartphone makers, as the mid-range segment is overly crowded with many smartphones to choose from.

Here, we pit the Moto G5 and Nokia 5 with the Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime, as Xiaomi is a big contender in the mid-range segment, and the Redmi 3S Prime comes with really good specifications at a very affordable price. Here's how they fare against each other on paper.

Moto G5 vs Nokia 5 vs Redmi 3S Prime Specifications

Moto G5 vs Nokia 5 vs Redmi 3S Prime Price

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S Prime was launched in August 2016 at Rs 8,999. The Nokia 5 and Moto G5, in comparison, have only just been launched, and haven't arrived to India yet. The Nokia 5, in comparison, only offers 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The Redmi 3S Prime offers 32GB of storage, and the Moto G5 comes in 16GB and 32GB offerings (latter for a slightly higher price tag). While the Nokia 5 and Moto G5 run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and Android 7.0 nougat respectively, the Redmi 3S Prime runs on the dated Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow (based on MIUI 7). All the three phones offer dual-SIM support (Nano-SIM for Nokia and Motorola and Micro-SIM for Redmi 3S Prime).

The smartphones look good on paper and h ave specific areas that they are good at than the other two. However, it should primarily boil down to the price tag when it arrives in India, as the Redmi 3S Prime offers great specs at a really affordable price point. The Nokia and Motorola phones run on the latest software, giving them a slight advantage than the old Redmi 3S Prime.

Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra size comparison: how does Sony's budget-friendly duo match against other mid-range phones

Sony just unveiled a barrage of new phones at MWC in Barcelona, and two of them specifically aim to refresh the company's mid-range line. These are the Sony Xperia XA1 and XA1 Ultra.

The new XA1 duo features identical design, chipset configurations and a similar 23 MP main camera, but here the resemblance stops as the bigger Ultra model comes with a larger screen size, battery and other improved characteristics. You can learn all about what powers the new phones by following this link, but stick around to find out how their size compares to the rest of the competition.

Sony Xperia XA1 vs HTC U Play, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime

Super tiny side bezel and gigantic bezel on the top and bottom

Compared to other popular mid-rangers in the 5- to 5.2-inch area, you can see that the Xperia XA1 is the lightest and narrowest device of the bunch. Although not as slender as the Samsung Galaxy A5, the smaller XA1 version is nearly a millimeter slimmer than the other 5-inch model found here – the Xiaomi Redmi 4 Prime.

Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra vs Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016), LG V20, Google Nexus 6

A gigantic phone that will be too big for most people

The Xperia XA1 Ultra features an edge-to-edge display with no bezels on the sides, but the ones that are located above and underneath the screen are quite large. This effectively makes the XA1 Ultra th e largest phone of our big phablet selection, but we have to give props to Sony for keeping the handset relatively slim.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 price and release date

Samsung just announced its Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book slates here at the MWC expo, and they turned out to be as exciting as tablets can be these days of ultraportable laptops and assorted detachables. The S3 is very similar in design to its predecessor, albeit with some expected spec bumps like Snapdragon 820 and AMOLED display, while the Windows-laden Books try to fit into Intel's 7th-gen Kaby Lake processor era.

We were already expectin g some sort of S-Pen accessory to be available for the Tab S3, and Samsung delivered a stylus that looks a bit different than previous Note-destined S-Pens. The stylus looks to be quite a tad thicker than models that Samsung has kicked out in the past, and the overall design of it strikes an alarming resemblance to Microsoft's Surface Pen. It is available as an optional accessory, alongside keyboard covers and other add-ons.

How much for the Galaxy Tab S3 and the Samsung Book 12" and 10" models? Well, Samsung disclosed that the Nougat-laden tablet will be available in Europe next month for €679 if you get the basic Wi-Fi version, and €769 if you want LTE connectivity, while the Book's prices are yet to be announced.

A pro tablet surfaces: the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has quad speakers, S Pen, keyboard

The tablet market hasn't been going super-strong lately. It was a lucrative niche some years ago, but it was very quickly cornered by the growing smartphone screen sizes, and the shrinking of ultrabooks (very slim notebooks). So, a lot of developers have pulled away from building tabs, and others have minimized their portfolio and spread out their product refresh schedules while continuing to poke at R&D to come up with a new breakthrough feature that would make tablets hip again.

The trend now is to transform tablets into ultra-portable productivity machines. Employing their touch input and throwing a stylus and keyboard in the mix opens up some possibilities for professionals or users who need a device that can transform from tablet to semi-laptop at will. Samsung has refreshed its flagship Galaxy Tab S line in accordance with this trend — this is the Galaxy Tab S3:

Design

In terms of design, the Galaxy Tab S3 is pretty similar to its predecessor — the Tab S2. Its body measures at 9.34 x 6.65 inches (237.3 x 169 mm), just like the old model, and its just a tad thicker at 0.23 inches (6 mm), while the Tab S2 was 0.22 inches (5.6 mm). In other words, it's still slightly smaller and slightly thinner than the "industry standard" — the highly-popular iPad Air 2, which measures at 9.45 x 6.67 x 0.24 inches (240 x 169.5 x 6.1 mm).

We've got a pretty standard Samsung ordeal with the navigational buttons. A hardware home key holds a fingerprint sensor and it's neighboured by two capacitive buttons — one for Recent Apps, one for Back. The pow er switch and volume rocker are at their regular spot, on the right frame of the device.

What's new on the metal frame is a special port, which is used to connect to the separately-sold keyboard dock, which turns the Tab S3 into a makeshift Android-powered ultrabook. We also have four speaker grilles for a brand-new to the Galaxy Tab line quad speaker stereo setup!

Hardware and display

So, the chassis looks very familiar, but what's new under the hood? We've got an appropriate bump in terms of hardware. The Tab S3 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chip, capable of reaching clock speeds of 2.15 GHz for performance-demanding tasks. The RAM has been boosted to 4 GB, and we've got 32 GB of on-board storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card.

We've got no surprises in the display department. Samsung adopted the 3:4 display ratio with the Galaxy Tab S2 and it remains the same with the new Tab S3. The resolution is also unchanged — 1536 x 2 048 pixels, meaning that the screen has 264 pixels per inch for a crisp image. Naturally, it's a Super AMOLED panel.

What's cool about the Tab S3 is that we get stereo sound back. The original Galaxy Tab S had stereo speakers, but Samsung omitted the feature from the re-designed Galaxy Tab S2. Now, it's back, and with a quad speaker setup to boot! Not only that, but the sound has been fine-tuned by the audio wizards over at AKG, so we have high hopes for crisp and loud audio from Sammy's new slate. As for cameras, we've got a 13 MP snapper at the back and a 5 MP selfie camera on the front for those Skype calls.

The data port on the bottom is of the reversible USB Type-C variety, and we have a headphone jack in case you were wondering.

Keyboard and stylus

The Galaxy Ta b S3 comes with an S Pen out of the box. That's the stylus, which has been developed for and made popular by the Galaxy Note series phablets. It carries over all of the features that an S Pen user would be familiar with — the Air Command menu, dragging, highlighting, selection, handwriting, native palm rejection, and all the good stuff that makes it an awesome stylus. Note that there is no slot on the actual tablet to keep the S Pen in, which is a bit of a downer.

There will also be a separately-sold keyboard for the Tab S3, which is also a cover-type case — similar to Microsoft's and Apple's cover keyboards for their own Surface and iPad Pro models. The Samsung keyboard latches on to the tablet via a special docking port, which is placed on the slate's left frame and is instantly ready for use. It's just keys, though, don't expect a touchpad or other such crazy features.

Price and release

At the moment, we have no price or definite release date for th e Tab S3 to share, so stay tuned!

"Nokia is everyone's brand and finally we have Android in Nokia, Android that is world's most used operating system," he says.

Update: President and CEO of Nokia Rajiv Suri is on the stage. And it looks like we will get to hear about the 5G and Nokia's telecom products before we move to the phones made by HMD. Suri, who is the Nokia CEO, says that the company won't just licence its brand to anyone. But HMD is different, he says. They are passionate people, these people behind HMD. They will drive the Nokia legacy forward, he says.

Update: Nokia Health Mate app launched. The app will also allow users to have a personalised fitness coach. So far, Nokia's event has been all about Withings and its health and fitness products. Also Withings products will be now sold under the Nokia brand. The idea is to create a Nokia ecosystem, similar to something like Apple ecosystem or Samsung ecosystem .

Update: Nokia event has started, and the company is showing off a number of devices. Nokia 6. Its 360 degrees camera. And products from Withings, which makes smart devices.

Update: More delay it seems, let's hope Nokia is not too delayed. After all, it was the delay that hurt the company in the smartphone market when it missed the Android bus.

Update: As far as today's Nokia menus is concerned, it is expected that the company will launch the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 8 smartphone. It is also expected to unveil a new Nokia 3310 as a homage to the earlier one, which was a bestseller.

Update: Looks like there is some delay. We are still waiting for the event to start.

Update: Nokia is about to start its MWC 2017 press conference. For now it is teasing journalists and tech bloggers with drawings of earlier Nokia phones, including the iconic Nokia 3310.

Update: This whole Nokia and HMD sounds little complex, but as consumers for you the important bit to note is that HMD is actually run by earlier Nokia executives. At the same time, it is promising the same old goodness and reliability of old Nokia. Whether HMD will match the promises it is making or not, only time will tell.

Update: Given that there is a lot of buzz about the Nokia's comeback to the phone market, let's quickly talk about how that has happened, before Nokia's event starts. This new Nokia is actually HMD, a company formed last year in Finland. It is full of old Nokia people, so surely there is a lot of Nokia in HMD. As for the phones, the new Nokia Android phones are being made by Foxconn, the same company that makes the iPhone, and they are going to be sold under the Nokia brand because HMD has taken a licence to do so from Microsoft, which actually still owns the Nokia brand.

Nokia is live streaming the event so you can also watch the Nokia event in real time with the following feed:
